Giving Thanks

Both my husband and I are very fortunate to have the interest and the resources to expand our worlds through our artistic pursuits in photography and painting. For this, we are thankful.

We recently returned from a 3 week holiday in Italy which included a 10 day workshop at an incredible vineyard, Dievole in the Chianti region of Tuscany. The workshop was designed and hosted by Michael Mele & Linda Mironti of Il Chiostro, Inc.- specializing in Art, Culture, & Culinary Workshops in Italy. The pastel workshop was lead by Liz Haywood Sullivan, a master at the easel, an educated instructor and an energetic and fun loving personality.

Simultaneously, they offered photography, watercolor and oil painting workshops, so this was a perfect opportunity to enjoy this experience with my husband, Ken, who took the photography workshop lead by photography guru, Michael Sullivan, Liz’s husband.

At my easel, overlooking the vineyard or olive gardens I had to pinch myself to believe it was real. Likewise, Ken was charged by the beauty that surrounded us … up before dawn to capture the sunrises or the fog lifting.

The time spent with other artists was magical, the weather was “perfecto”, trips to Sienna, Florence, Radda and San Gimignano offered a variety of scenery to capture digitally or in our sketch books.

In retirement, we devote hours and days to developing our skills, exploring, traveling in search of “the light”, online learning, viewing YouTube videos of artists we admire and just being in the moment. We are lucky to have our interests and our family and friends who support us in this creative journey.

Thanks to followers near and far. Happy Thanksgiving.
