Being in the 24th annual juried exhibition of the International Pastel Societies (IAPS) at the Vose Gallery in Boston on May 10th was very cool. Sharing the experience with some of the medium’s contemporary leaders such as Liz Haywood Sullivan, Claudia Seymour, Margaret Dyer, Aline Ordman, Stan Sperlak, Deborah Quinn-Munson and many other fine artists was a treat.
Entering the gallery on Saturday and being told that my painting had sold was an additional highlight to a stunning, summer like day in Boston. Seeing the incredible pastel works gracing the wall of the Vose Gallery created an inspirational flood in me which will feed my thirst for wanting to paint often and for being the best artist I can be right now.
In the months ahead, there are international, national and regional juried shows to which I will submit entries, hoping to capture more opportunities to exhibit my work alongside masters in the medium of pastel.
Summer is at our doorstep; the landscape is once again whispering to me, I am ready to make the connection between paper, pastels and the visual queues that excite me.
